Daily Life in a Plains Indian Village 1868
Published in Paperback by Clarion Books (August, 1999)
Average review score:

Fantastic resourceEven though this book is geared to the older elementary student, I used it to supplement my instruction for third graders. It has a wealth of strong information and contains clear and interesting illustrations.
A Wonderful Resource for Plains Indian Information Seekers! At first glance this book looks like it is simply another children's book but once you open it the beautiful, full color photos speak for themselves! The book is 100% full color and shows a variety of men and women of different Plains tribal affiliations and their routines of daily life. Everything from styles of clothing to weapons, to men's and women's roles is covered in accurate, deatiled photography accompanied by brief commentary. Each subject is attired in meticulously replicated regalia done by the author who is a well known and respected Plains Indian authority. Another nice feature is the addition of a resource page listing historical sites of the Great Plains region. For such a small price tag this is one book that should be on every American history buff's bookshelf! You will not be disappointed!
An Excellent Book for Children or CraftworkersMichael Terry's "Daily Life in a Plains Indian Village, 1868" is a wonderful book that, although geared toward children and adolescents, provides a colorful overview of the ways of life of the Plains Indian peoples for all readers. The full color, large photograaphs on every page are incredible. Northern Palins replica makers and craftworkers will also find a wealth of close-up photos and descriptions of tools, weapons, and art to which they can refer in their work. If you wish you could see the Plains Indians in the full color splendor for which they are known then this is the book for you!

Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (August, 2002)

UpliftingThe book was spritually uplifting. I laughed, cried and prayed with the story's main character, Kerrianne. I recommend this book to those seeking spiritual guidance.
Do you know when God speaks back?Simply put,I liked it! I enjoyed getting to know the character Kerrianne and what she learned about herself. The internal conflicts she struggled with made me think about how I handle my internal conflict with God.
Designed by God's Hands: A Prosperity TestimonyThis book is a splendid validation of truth and consequences, for it has many moving phrases and catchwords that ignites the soul, a book full of hope, faith and love, a work complete with beginnings and ends, a God-given masterpiece, a classic writing, an excellent treatise about life, a good read, indeed.

Exploring Light and Color: A "Hands-On" Approach to Learning (Little Scientists, Hands-On Activities)
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Trade (January, 2000)
Average review score:

Lighting Up Young MindsDr. Heidi Gold-Dworkin's books are a thrilling addition to children's literature and an important introduction to concepts that most kids usually have to wait to learn until they're in junior and senior high school. With the world of science exploding around us, these books are the best way for kids to learn early what makes our universe tick. I have no doubt that future Nobel Prize winners will cite the influence of Dr.Heidi's books when they mount the podium in Oslo someday!
Original and Fun!We have all three of Dr. Heidi's book's and can't wait for the next one. My 5 year-old loves doing the simple experiments that Dr. Heidi outlines. Not only do these books truly illustrate in a simple way the way the world works, but they are a great way to spend time with your children while they are learning valuable things about the world. Dr. Heidi clearly understands how to communicate with 4-8 year-old kids. And I learned a lot to. Highly recommended for learning (by both child and parent) and fun. 5 plus stars!
Exceptional Book for Children, Parents, and TeachersThis is a remarkable children's science book. I am an elementary school teacher and I am using the book for my K-3rd grade students. My students love the experiments and this book is helping them to enjoy science. The pictures are great and the questions that Olivia asks about light and color are just what my students want to know. I can't wait to read the others.

Eye of the Centaur: A Visionary Guide into Past Lives
Published in Paperback by Bear & Co (February, 1990)
Average review score:

Enlightening, inspired readingIn Eye of the Centaur, Barbara Clow has written down her experiences with past-life regression, and courageously shares very personal details about her experiences. She has lived as prophets and priests, and her description of ancient spiritual traditions is fascinating. She also describes lives that were particularly painful for her, and her so-called "ordinary" lives. But whatever life she is narrating, she makes it very clear how reliving her past lives transformed her self-perception and empowered her to fully achieve her potential. I also found the introduction by her past-life therapist, Gregory Paxson, very helpful. The introduction sets down the reasons why past-life therapy is so beneficial for releasing unexplained trauma and phobia in our current lives. This book not only tells us but shows us it is possible to cultivate a much richer understanding of who we really are and that we can consciously work with wisdom we acquired in past lives for the highest good. This is a tremendously powerful book.
Eye of the Centaur: A visionary guide into past livesAfter reading The Pleiadian Agenda by Clow, I bought the first book of her Mind Chronicles Trilogy. I intuitively believe the information that Clow shares with us is of paramount importance and should be read by all who want to improve their personal life in the most meaningful way. I look forward to the day where I can fully understand my present incarnation with the wisdom of past incarnations as Clow has. Clow's past lives as a priest of Enoch, a Minoan princess(Aspasia),a Druid priest and as an Egyptian priest known as Ichor, definetly indicates why she is one of the most incredible astrologers today. The aforementioned lifetimes also reveals why she is channelling the most significant information we need to know today for she has done so in her past lives. Her most prophetic past life that we are familiar with is Isaiah, who fortold of Jesus Christ 600 years before his coming. Clow relates of other past lives that are quite ordinary: a Roman capitalist, a depressed prostitute around 600 A.D., an unhappily married Victorian woman in early 1900, and a happily married court jester around 1590 A.D., etc. For each of these lives and others she relates their experiences to her present lifetime. In sharing her past life content, I felt an inner growth of awareness of myself and a passionate curiosity to want to learn more of my multidimensional self and the synchronous earthly happenings of those times. I look forward to reading the other two books of this trilogy. Clow's life is not only incredibly fascinating, but is also important for us to read for she is preparing us for the global and cosmic shift we are now experiencing by helping us to dwell on multidemensional therapies to equip us for our future.
Reincarnation is reality !The reality of Reincarnation is vividly given a new life on this her most important work. The reality of reincarnation is best provided those seekers with inspired writings such as these.

Fundraising: Hands-On Tactics for Nonprofit Groups
Published in Hardcover by McGraw-Hill Trade (06 February, 1992)
Average review score:

A complete fund-raising guideWhat is best about the book is that it digs into the multitude of steps necessary to prepare for a successful campaign. When I first read the Table of Contents I was somewhat overwhelmed with the idea that so many things had to take place before actually asking for substantial contributions to our nonprofit. We were used to running a few special events and receiving just as few dollars from them. But using the clearly written text as a guide enabled us to expand our thinking and implement a process that led to significantly increased donations this year. The book was a great investment.
This book presents a fantastic plan for campaignsI used this book almost exclusively as a reference for a capital campaign at a community college foundation. The fundraising plan outlined in the text is very good, and can be followed almost verbatim. I found that the pointers offered were very applicable to the funding plan, that is, they were specific enough to be meaningful, yet broad enough to be adapted to any fundraising situation. This book is probably most useful for those considering a capital campaign, and an especially good reference for those who are embarking on their very first campaign. The text ranks among one of the most practically applicable I have ever read.
The Bible of FundraisingI was so tired of trying to wade through dense books on fundraising and marketing. This book lays it out clearly and simply. Fundraising is common sense--so is this book. Should be read by anyone launching an annual and capital campaign.

Hand Quilting with Alex AndersonWonderful help. This is a great reference book for everyone to have on their shelf.
Excellant instruction on hand quilting. This is probably the best book I have found that gives instruction for hand quilting. The color pictures give very explicit instruction for both right and left handed people. I would recommend this to anyone interested in hand quilting, whether a beginner or a long time quilter. Alex Anderson is one of the best teachers and supporters of quilting. She does an excellant job with her program " Simply Quilts". I would recommend all her books.
I've always wanted to hand quilt. Now I can. This book is the best. It's affordable and comes with color pictures that show me each step for quilting. It even has left handed and right handed instructions. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to hand-quilt.

Hand-Me-Down Blues : How to Stop Depression from Spreading in Families
Published in Hardcover by Golden Books Pub Co (Adult) (March, 1999)
Average review score:

So that's what's wrong with my family! As they say, you can't judge a book by its cover but when I saw the title, I had to read it. As I was checking it out of my local library, the woman in line behind me saw the cover and was disappointed that I was taking it out instead of returning it. This all speaks volumes about the need for someone to explain how some families get so dysfunctional in the first place and more importantly how to counteract their negative influence and hopefully recover from it. I've known for years that the root of my depression was in the family dsyfunction I grew up with but I couldn't quite explain how. We didn't become dysfunctional by the classic things like alcoholism or drug abuse but by something more insidious. Reading this book helped me at least start to unravel the tangled mess of my depressive family relationships. It's not a cure-all but it's a great start!
Invaluable. A must readDr. Michael Yapko, a leading expert on depression, has written a book on depression that offers sound advice for people who are depressed and their families. If you, or a loved one, is depressed, this book is must reading. Yapko surveys the myths of depression and offers solutions on how families can help one another. This book should be must reading for any family that is experiencing depression
This wonderful book empowers families to beat depression. The many endorsements from his colleagues enticed me to buy Dr. Yapko's book. It lived up to and even surpassed the high expectations! It was easy to read and totally engrossed me as I finally came to understand how my family created the environment in which I learned what Dr. Yapko would probably call "faulty patterns" of thinking and relating. I've been depressed, and I've been treated with antidepressants, and I now understand much more about why the drugs never improved my ability to handle my family better. I learned a lot from the many stories he provides that illustrate his key points, and I often felt he was talking directly to me. There's no doubt he knows what depression is about, and he inspires the confidence to learn to do things differently. I give this book my highest recommendation!

The Hand-Sculpted House: A Philosophical and Practical Guide to Building a Cob Cottage (The Real Goods Solar Living Book)
Published in Paperback by Chelsea Green Pub Co (June, 2002)
Average review score:

The most comprehensive book on Cob building available. If you only ever buy one book on cob building make sure it is this book! This book contains everything you can learn about cob without getting your hands dirty. Then it inspires you to go out and get your hands dirty. Everyone who is interested in natural building and ecological design should own a copy of this book. So many new techniques have come along since the first books on cob were published. It is great to have a book with all the new tips and ideas. If you've never heard of cob or if you think you know it all this book has something for everyone.
I Spent Hours With This Awesome BookI paid full price for this book at a retail Book store (I wish I had bought it here!). I have 2 other books on cob building also (Becky Bee's "The Cob Builders Handbook" - Which I highly recommend also & Michael Smith's "Cobbers Companion", I also recommend but Becky's, I feel is the better of the two.) However, THIS book stands out considerably. It is the MOST awesome book on cob building. It has wonderful photographs & drawings including additional privacy courtyard/outside ideas etc. There is nothing out there that can compare to this book to spark ideas and show the beauty, versatility & many options & benefits one has in cob building. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has even a slight interest in earth homes/cob building. If you are very interested in this or a related subject(straw bale etc.) you will LOVE this book!
Sculpt Your Way to FreedomBuilding with Cob is the way to make your house fit you rather than you fitting yourself to the house(usually designed and built by someone else).
While the most comprehensive instruction manual on building a Cob home with your own hands (and feet!) this is also your ticket for an escape from mortgage(lit. "death-pledge") serfdom. One of the most important chapters of the book discusses the economics of house-building in a very enlightening way.
The book has superb illustrations well integrated into the text and colour photographs of cob houses.
